As a former police officer, Chantal’s love for helping others has carried through to the salon business she now owns in her home town of Lambert’s Bay. She’s all about embracing and empowering.
“I was with SAPS for 24yrs in Vredendal. I saw the need to start own business and I wanted to be closer to my family. I’ve had a passion for hair since grade 11. I’m self taught and constantly learn new skills and how to assist young and mature women with problems with their hair. I want to encourage women to embrace themselves. That is my vision.”
She started small, wanting to be independent and set an example for other women.
“Start a business of your own. We as women can be strong and stand on our own feet.”
Nu Look Beauty Salon now offers nail treatments, hair, wax and botox. Chantal’s advice for starting a business?
“You have to have hair on your teeth to start a small business! It was a challenge but I went to my former job roles and it helped me. Build a good relationship with your colleagues. They drive your business. Treat them like family. They will help you overcome problems and challenges.”
